Workplace Safety Practices
At Enerflex, we believe that all work activities, irrespective of complexity, size or duration, can be performed safely, effectively and efficiently. To meet this objective, Enerflex ensures that adequate controls are in place prior to beginning a task, which will either eliminate or control potential workplace hazards and will prevent incidents from occurring. Measures include:
- Pre-placement medical assessments are conducted for employees in physically demanding roles.
- New employees are required to attend a mandatory HSE orientation prior to commencing work. HSE training is a condition of employment. Depending on the position, certain employees require more specific training relevant to their assigned duties.
- Safe work practices are written and reviewed on a regular basis.
- All employees are required to wear personal protective equipment as determined by following the hazard assessment process and industry practices.
- Facility and equipment inspections ensure that employees are kept safe. Inspections are conducted regularly at all of our facilities to ensure that they are in compliance with Enerflex standards. Deficiencies are recorded and follow-up inspections ensure that problems are rectified.
- Safety meetings, toolbox meetings, steering committee meetings and pre-job hazard assessments are conducted regularly at all of our locations, including worksites. These meetings ensure that worksite hazards and HSE policies and procedures are communicated regularly with all employees.
Enerflex employees have an obligation to refuse unsafe work. If an employee deems that a task is unsafe, it is their responsibility to inform their supervisor of the issue. Employees are actively encouraged to improve workplace safety and no employee will be disciplined for refusing unsafe work.
